Sri Sri Nathji

Sri Sri Nathji
Sri Sri Nathji (the Lord of Sri) is a form of KRISHNA worshipped at NATHDWARA near Udaipur in Rajas-than. Nathdwara is one of the main shrines of the cult of the Hindu saint VALLABHA. The image has different forms, one of which shows Sri Sri Nathji Sri Sri Nathji, a special icon of Lord Krishna revered by the Vallabha sect of Krishna devotees (calendar print) lifting up the Govardhana mountain, which is part of the Krishna mythology.
The image here is treated as Krishna himself and the worship follows a cycle of the events of Krishna’s life. The image was taken from Mathura in 1669 to preserve it from destruction by the iconoclastic Muslim Mughal king Aurangzeb.
